ISPR puts quake death toll at 476

 ISLAMABAD: Pakistan army says that the recent earthquakes in Balochistan have killed 476 people and left another 428 wounded. Director General, ISPR, Maj-Gen Asim Bajwa said that the two earthquakes affected 182 kilometers of area in Balochistan. “Two field hospitals have been set up in the quake-hit areas. 2000 army jawans are taking part in relief activities.

Electricity tariffs go up by Rs5.89/unit


ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday dropped an electricity bomb on domestic consumers, raising power tariff by Rs5.89/ unit from the next month. A notification has also been issued in this regard. According to the notification, new tariff will be applicable on Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC) and other power firms.

Nisar says 5000 families affected by Balochistan quakes

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that 5, 000 families have been affected by the recent earthquakes in Balochistan. Interacting with media persons here on Monday, Chaudhry Nisar said the powerful quakes also damaged 125, 000 houses.
