ISPR puts quake death toll at 476

 ISLAMABAD: Pakistan army says that the recent earthquakes in Balochistan have killed 476 people and left another 428 wounded. Director General, ISPR, Maj-Gen Asim Bajwa said that the two earthquakes affected 182 kilometers of area in Balochistan. “Two field hospitals have been set up in the quake-hit areas. 2000 army jawans are taking part in relief activities.

Electricity tariffs go up by Rs5.89/unit


ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday dropped an electricity bomb on domestic consumers, raising power tariff by Rs5.89/ unit from the next month. A notification has also been issued in this regard. According to the notification, new tariff will be applicable on Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC) and other power firms.

Nisar says 5000 families affected by Balochistan quakes

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that 5, 000 families have been affected by the recent earthquakes in Balochistan. Interacting with media persons here on Monday, Chaudhry Nisar said the powerful quakes also damaged 125, 000 houses.

Britney Spears in Las Vegas for Greatest Hits





NEW YORK: Britney Spears, the pop star and former "X-Factor" judge, is heading to Las Vegas with a two-year residency deal to perform at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

The former child star, whose hits include "Baby One More Time" and "Toxic," will perform 50 shows a year starting on December 27. Tickets for the shows go on sale on Tuesday.

Spears said in an interview from Las Vegas,"I love it here, the energy here is really, really good."

She further added, "I am definitely going to do the greatest hits but I am going to have to put my new material in it to keep it fresh."

The announcement ended speculation that Spears, 31, would follow in the footsteps of other top-selling artists such as Canada's Celine Dion and Britain's Elton John, who had long-term contracts in the gambling mecca.

Disney delays 'Pirates' sequel after pushing up 'Ant-Man'







Los Angles: Walt Disney Co has said that it would delay the release of the film "Pirates of the Caribbean 5," the latest in the blockbuster series starring Johnny Depp. The movie had been scheduled to open in theaters on July 10, 2015.

Disney's announcement gave no reason for the film's delay. A person familiar with the project said studio executives did not think the script and other aspects of the film were ready for it to start production. No date was given for the film's release.

The delay on "Pirates 5" comes a day after the studio said it would move up the release of another big-budget film, "Ant-Man," from October 2015 to July 31, 2015, three weeks after the John Depp film was originally scheduled to be released.
